TELECOM Nancy organizes the 5th edition of its “Capture The Flag” event

TELECOM Nancy is organizing the 5th edition of its annual cybersecurity event “Capture The Flag” on the school’s cyber-range platform on January 17 and 18, 2023 for students from BAC+2 to BAC+5 level in cybersecurity.

“Understanding attacks to better protect themselves from them”, such is the objective of these 48 hours of intense challenges taking place at TELECOM Nancy on a first-rate cyber-security platform, made up of a red team room (offensive) , a blue team room (defensive), and a professional-level cyber-range. The latter was inaugurated in September 2019 in the presence of the Vice-President of Higher Education and Research of the Grand-Est Region, and the Commander of the Nancy Defense Base.

The school is also participating in the organization of a Cyber War Game entitled ” Cyber Humanum Est ” which will take place in February 2023, in collaboration with the Nancy Defense Base and Lorraine INP – University of Lorraine.

Students at the top of national and European challenges

Previously, a TELECOM Nancy student team was ranked in the top 5 out of a hundred teams, during the CentraleSupelec Intelligence and Analysis Tournament (TRACS) organized by ViaRezo / CentraleSupelec and the DGSE.

A TELECOM Nancy student team (HackInTN club) was also ranked in the top 5 over sixty teams during the national GreHack competition organized by the ENSIMAG security club. During a national cyber-security competition, organized by the Cyber Defense Command (COMCYBER), under the authority of the Chief of the Armed Forces Staff, a TELECOM Nancy student team arrived in the top 5 in the general classification on more than 500 teams.

Students from TELECOM Nancy were also ranked in the top 3 out of more than sixty international teams (professional and student), for the qualifications of the European CTF “Cube Apocalypse” organized by the University of the German Federal Armed Forces (Munich , Germany).

TELECOM Nancy students also demonstrated their dexterity during the DG’Hack challenge organized by the General Directorate of Armaments (DGA), with a ranking in the top 5 out of more than 300 student teams .

Cybersecurity at TELECOM Nancy

TELECOM Nancy trains engineers in computer science and digital sciences in three years and offers a specialization in cyber-security entitled ” Internet Systems and Security “.

The school is a member of the CONCORDIA European consortium of excellence in cyber-security and of the European alliance of cyber-security skills Erasmus+ REWIRE , and participates in the cyber-reservist center in collaboration with the Ministry of the Armed Forces .

Equipped with state-of-the-art technological equipment including a professional cyber-range and supported by the expertise of its teacher-researchers and its partner companies, TELECOM Nancy now offers a unique cyber-security training offer in the Grand Est and responds to a crucial need: responding to the shortage of cybersecurity experts.
