FISEA specialty cybersecurity course
Become an expert in cybersecurity and face the threats of cyberspace
Initial training under Student then Apprentice status
With its expertise in cybersecurity for more than 10 years, TELECOM Nancy opens at the start of the 2024 school year, in partnership with ITII Lorraine – UIMM Lorraine Training Center, a specialty engineering training in a new format in France for cybersecurity: the “FISEA” with a 1st year at school under student status, then the 2nd and 3rd years alternating school/company under apprentice status.
In a context of constantly increasing threats and a global shortage of specialized executives, this training, authorized by the Commission for Engineering Qualifications in April 2023, benefits from the support of the Grand Est Region, the Grand Nancy Metropolis, the Pole Training for UIMM Lorraine and more than fifty companies in the field.
12 places offered for the 2024 school year
For the 2024 school year, 12 places (and up to 24 places in the medium term) will be offered to candidates from these courses:
- BUT 2/3 , Licenses 2/3 or BTS with a strong component in IT or cybersecurity
- The INP Preparation ,
- Preparatory Classes for Grandes Écoles , Integrated Preparations
FISEA: 1 year under student status, 2 years under apprentice status
The structure of the training is innovative, taking place over three consecutive years, the first year of which is under student status, followed by two years as an apprentice. This approach allows students to develop varied and complementary skills while gaining essential practical experience in the field of cybersecurity.
- the 1st year (FISE) full-time at school to acquire scientific and technical fundamentals,
- the 2nd and 3rd years (FISA) work-study in a company to develop strong operational skills in cybersecurity while benefiting from progressive immersion in the business world, an employment contract and remuneration as well as recognition of professional experience for the young graduate.
The status of the apprentice
The apprentice is a full-time employee. He has the same rights and the same obligations as all employees of the company. All labor legislation (legal and conventional provisions) is applicable. Like any employee, apprentices benefit from legal annual leave which represents the total of two and a half days per month (including during the time spent at the CFA).
Apprentices receive at least a fixed remuneration as a percentage of the minimum wage (the company’s collective agreement may provide for higher rates), depending on their age and their progress in the training cycle.
These percentages are as follows:
From 18 to 21 years old:
- 1st year : 43% minimum wage
- 2nd year : 51% of the minimum wage
From 21 to 25 years old:
- 1st year : 53% of the minimum wage
- 2nd year : 61% of the minimum wage
Conditions to be an apprentice
- Be admitted based on academic criteria.
- Be under 30 years old on the start date of the apprenticeship contract.
- Be of French nationality, European Union national or foreigner (non-EU) holding a student residence permit in France for at least one year.

Training for cybersecurity professions
This new FISEA path allows engineering students to acquire specific skills in cybersecurity, corresponding mainly to five professions from the 2020 panorama of cybersecurity professions from ANSSI in collaboration with Numeum , namely:
- Security specialist in a technical field : the security specialist has expertise in the security of a particular technical field (system, network, industrial components, IoT, artificial intelligence). He provides a role of advice, assistance, information, training and alert and can intervene directly on all or part of a project which falls within his area of expertise, whether in the phases of study, implementation or maintenance in safety conditions,
- Security solutions integrator : the security solutions integrator contributes to the choice of the architecture of the security solution and ensures its assembly within the IS. It integrates the security solution into the production environment and ensures its deployment. It can also ensure operation and maintenance in operational conditions over time through the provision of a managed security service,
- Security project manager : his role consists of defining, implementing and leading deployment projects of security solutions and tools, in line with the security objectives set by the organization,
- Cybersecurity consultant : he proposes, based on a diagnosis, solutions, methods, tools, which respond to the security challenges posed. To do this, it mobilizes elements from its expertise and experience as well as tools developed internally, and anticipates developments in the cyber context, through its feedback and a vision of market practices,
- Security incident response analyst : in the event of suspicion of malicious activity or an attack within the information system, the security incident response analyst analyzes the symptoms and carries out technical analyzes on the information system . It identifies the attacker’s mode of operation and qualifies the extent of the compromise. It provides remediation recommendations to ensure remediation and hardening of attacked systems.
Equipment of excellence
Already cited as a reference academic platform in the international work: “Introduction to the Cyber Ranges” (Chappman & Hall / CRC Press, New York, USA, 2022), TELECOM Nancy continues the development of its cybersecurity training platform with the acquisition of a new Airbus Defense and Space Cyber cyber range, which complements the Diateam cyber range (Thalès partner) acquired in 2019.
TELECOM Nancy’s equipment for cybersecurity training is constantly evolving:
- 2017 : creation of the school’s cyber platform with offensive/defensive rooms
- 2019 : acquisition of a first Diateam professional cyber range
- 2021 : increase in platform capacity and addition of a data center
- 2023 : integration of a second professional cyber range designed by Airbus Defense and Space Cyber
With an impressive RAM memory of nearly 2 TB, the equivalent of around 150 personal computers , this powerful educational platform is divided into three rooms: a red team (offensive) room, a blue team (defensive) room and a server room now integrating two professional-level cyber ranges and a data center.
It makes it possible to build, deploy and experiment with realistic IT infrastructures (corporate networks, industrial networks, Internet of Things) from which different attack and defense scenarios are simulated and analyzed.
It has already raised awareness or trained several thousand people and corresponds to an investment of more than 350,000 euros . The platform benefits from financial support from the Grand Est Region as part of the PACTE Grandes Écoles projects.
Added to this cutting-edge equipment is the expertise and mobilization of the school’s IT and teaching teams to bring the platform to life and evolve on a daily basis.
TELECOM Nancy, major player in cybersecurity training
With this new diploma, TELECOM Nancy strengthens its position as a major player in cybersecurity training: engineering diploma under FISE (student), FISA (apprentice), FISEA (student and apprentice) status or professionalization contract, French-speaking MOOCs and European, opening courses for other training, etc.
In addition, the school organizes, co-organizes and participates in numerous specialized or cybersecurity awareness events: annual CTF (Capture The Flag) challenges, cyber escape game, cyber war game, hackathons on best practices, etc. Its students regularly place in the top 5 of the biggest competitions.
TELECOM Nancy now offers a unique cybersecurity training offer in the Grand Est.
