The Nancy defense base and Lorraine INP are organizing, for the second consecutive year, a CTF/WAR GAME cyber defense exercise
From January 25 to 27, 2022, under the aegis of the Cyberdefense Command (COMCYBER) of the Ministry of the Armed Forces and the University of Lorraine, the Nancy Defense Base and Lorraine INP are organizing a CTF/War Game cyberdefense exercise entitled “Cyber Humanum Est” labeled Fabrique Défense.
TELECOM Nancy is participating in the organization of this multi-site exercise which will take place 24 hours a day on the night of January 26 to 27, will be aimed at more than 70 students, and will be based on the cyber-range platform of the Defense Base of Nancy and that of TELECOM Nancy.
Produced with the support of the cyber defense operational reserve, university staff and local cybersecurity experts, this CTF/WARGAME will be played simultaneously on three separate sites: the Verneau Blandan barracks in Nancy, Polytech Nancy and TELECOM Nancy. It will put in competition students from several educational components (Mines Nancy, Polytech Nancy, TELECOM Nancy, IUT de Brabois and UFR MIM), and will rely on two cyber-range platforms: that of the Nancy Defense Base and that of TELECOM Nancy.
With more than 400 man-days of preparation, the mobilization of more than 110 people (organizers and participants), the exercise features three fictitious countries with embassies, tactical command posts, OIVs (Organisms of Vital Importance), newspapers, the APT54 group of attackers and even… spies…
Exercise scenario:
- Un état démocratique en pleine crise économique a besoin de liquidités afin de payer ses dettes contractées auprès de multiples organismes.
- Il dispose d’une île sur laquelle de nombreuses ressources minières sont disponibles et décide donc de la vendre au plus offrant.
- Deux pays voisins de l’île mise aux enchères sont parties prenantes dans une lutte sans merci afin de mettre la main sur ces ressources inexploitées.
To be the lucky acquirer of the island, the two competing states use all the means at their disposal to discredit their adversary in order to win the day with computer attacks. They use attacks and struggles for influence in order to damage the image or to collect information allowing them to discredit the opposing State.
Week schedule :
- Mardi 25 janvier : préparation des étudiants à l’exercice (mise en situation, scénario…)
- Mercredi 26 et jeudi 27 janvier : CTF/WARGAME
- Jeudi 27 janvier après-midi : débriefing de l’exercice
- Vendredi 28 janvier matin : dans le cadre de la Fabrique Défense, une matinée job dating « et si la cybersécurité était votre avenir » est organisée au Palais du Gouvernement à Nancy avec une quinzaine de partenaires, annonce des prix et remise des attestations de participation avec Elena Poincet (marraine de l’évènement et présidente de Tehtris), le COMCYBER, le maire de Nancy et président de la métropole du Grand Nancy, le président de l’Université de Lorraine et le commandant de la Base de Défense de Nancy.
